Happy Sunday to you all! Official Blog post #3…haha

I love Sunday mornings. This is the start of my weekend and it is Awesome! I started my day by waking up early and hitting the gym! It snowed last night and it was gorgeous and snowy outside. It was a little surreal when I first opened the door this morning because all our neighbors were out and about shoveling their walks and driveways. I had a happy “pleasantville” sensation seeing everyone pitch in to get it done. On the way to the gym this morning I stopped by Starbucks to grab a new Vanilla Spice Latte and it was YUMMY!!!!! My fantastic mother-in-law gave me a gift card for Christmas so I was more then excited to try this new drink. My honest opinion…completely delicious and I will definitely be ordering this one again. I’m a bit of a coffee snob so Yep, I sure do love the Bucks! On a completely different note…my amazing husband bought me new running shoes for my birthday which was on New Years Eve…woot woot! I was able to use them for the first time this morning. They are awesome and fit perfectly!

So…i’ve been doing some serious thinking about what I should write about for my first fitness post.  I think I would like to start by going over my past relationship with food and exercise.  I’ve always been a naturally thin person but i’ve never been what I would consider a HEALTHY person.  I’ve been on different workout programs and diets for a few years and i’ve never been able to stick with anything for the long term.  One of my all time biggest goals in life that I would like to someday achieve is competing in a figure competition.  This of course requires serious dedication and motivation to healthy eating and consistently working out on a regular basis.

In exactly 23 weeks it is my goal to be in fantastic shape, ok I would probably settle to be in better shape then where i’m at right now!  In 23 weeks it will be the start of summer…kinda crazy to think about things in that context.  I would love to be in bikini shape by the time that date arrives.  A tall order in only 23 weeks…most workout programs i’ve been researching are around 12 weeks or longer so I know its doable as long as I stay strong and disciplined.  What I would like to do this time round, which I have failed at miserable in the past, is going about this in a healthy and balanced way. I’m really excited to see what progress I can make and i’m going to do the best job that I can! I’m going to be doing weekly check-ins with my measurements and photos to help keep myself accountable.  I also have a meal log as well as a workout tracker that i’ll be posting.  I usually keep a hard copy journal of my workouts and meals which I take with me to the gym and to work to track my progress through the day.

I’ve never been good at counting calories because it is SOOOOOOO exhausting and time consuming.  I feel like I get obsessed with ever ounce of food that I put into my body and I almost get anxiety over it.  I literally don’t have time or the energy to do that.  So instead of being paranoid and anxious about the food I eat, I use my journal as a way to track general meals and I can get an overview of the food I eat throughout the day.  I can track my habits and see where i’m slipping up and where i’m really good and disciplined.

I like to use weight training and cardio as well as a workout program that worked wonders for me when I was getting in shape for my wedding.  It is called Turbo Jams & Turbo Fire by Chalene Johnson and Beachbody. It is AH…MAZING!!!!!! I only did the workouts a few times a week and it made such a difference for me and my body.  For the first time in my life I loved the way I looked and my wedding was so wonderful because I felt beautiful on the inside and out…as well as incredibly happy obviously! I would encourage anybody to try this…it is really awesome!

You can view my weekly workouts and meal log here and watch for updates and changes that I make.  If I get brave enough I might post progress pictures. :)

Wow…i’m a little nervous and totally excited! I am really excited to be posting my progress and being a little bit vulnerable. I know that by posting my progress I am going to be helping myself and keeping myself accountable. I am doing a new workout program called Best Body Bootcamp from Tina Reale. I did it in the Fall of 2012 and really liked it because of the variety of workouts. Also, i’m not gonna lie, I loved not having to plan my workouts and days in advance. It is already made and right there for you when you need it. This is a huge time saver for me as I work full time and my hours are limited during the day.

In the meantime, have a healthy and beautiful day!!!

Love & Light & Blessings,
